Civil society activists call for change to HIV law

The activists say the contentious clauses increase stigma and harm to people living with HIV whose dignity will be compromised.

 

Ahead of the commemoration of World Aids Day on Thursday, Civil Society Organisations advocating for the rights of people living with HIV are asking government to amend the 2015 HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Act.

The activists ant clauses forcing people to disclose their HIV status and those that criminalise intention to spread HIV removed. They say the contentious clauses increase stigma and harm to people living with HIV whose dignity will be compromised.
