Today, the 30th of November 2016, on the eve of World Aids Day, as Uganda Joins the rest of the world to celebrate the journey of the AIDS response, reflect on the successes and measure effort needed to address the challenges, we the Civil society Organizations in the sector call for urgent attention to the Legal environment that has been more worrying since the passing of the HIV Prevention and Control Act No .1 of 2015.
“Hands Up for HIV Prevention” is the Global Theme for this World AIDS day 2016. It’s a timely and very urgent call to all of us.
In line with the Global and the Uganda country Agenda – Ending AIDS by 2030 will mean scaling up investment in evidence based HIV prevention strategies. The UNAIDS target of 90-90-90 must be realized.( Those targets are: that 90% of people with HIV know their status, 90% of those who know they are HIV positive are on HIV treatment, and 90% of those who are on treatment have suppressed viral load.
