UGANET is a registered non- governmental organization working in Uganda whose mandate lies in promotion of justice for Health, HIV and Gender equality. UGANET with support from TASO is seeking to recruit vibrant, competent and committed individuals to fill vacant positions for Communications specialist, Communications officer and Legal Officer.
The specific roles for the position(s);
Position: Communications personality (1)
Duration: 18 Months on quarterly/retainer consultancy basis
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications or Investigative Journalism. A master’s degree in a related field will be of advantage.
Skills: Excellent written and oral English communication skills. Ability to conduct and publish documentaries in both video and written news articles. Knowledge of other languages is an added advantage. He/she should willing to move to different districts of the country.
Experience: At least five years of investigative journalism in areas of Health, HIV and Gender with vast expertise in working with media houses. Candidates should be able to work independently with minimum supervision and guidance from the supervisor.
Brand, coordinate and champion the profiling of UGANET’s work, be willing to arrange and retain on going campaigns and be able to conduct investigative journalism and influence media platforms to publish the stories.
Position: Communications officer (1)
Duration: 18 Months with a possibility to renew.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public relations or a related field.
Skills: Excellent written and oral English communication skills. Knowledge of other languages is an added advantage. He/she should have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft word, PowerPoint, excel and publisher
Experience: At least two years working experience in running advocacy campaigns on health HIV and gender in a reputable organization. Demonstrated and extensive social media experience is an added advantage. . Candidates should be able to work independently with minimum supervision and guidance from the supervisor
Assumes primary responsibility for planning, developing and implementing communication strategies to promote, manage and improve all our communications flows, within and outside of our organization. Be responsible for disseminating information and create awareness about UGANET programs and activities
Position: Legal officer (1)
Duration: 18 Months and subject to renewal based on availability of funds.
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Law from an accredited Institution together with a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice; MUST be an Enrolled Advocate of the High Court with a VALID Practicing Certificate.
Skills: Excellent communication skills, knowledge of other languages and experience in community work is of an added advantage. He/she should have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft word, PowerPoint, excel and publisher
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years’ relevant experience in legal practice/ Court room experience with at least one year’s experience in provision of Legal Aid Services either as a regular staff or Volunteer with a reputable Legal aid service provider.
